One of the true greats of British comedy,
Blackadder started life as a large budget 'Rowan Atkinson' show, who
was
fresh from his success in Not the Nine O' Clock news. However the BBC
decided
that it was far too expensive and writer Richard Curtis was told to
scale
it down if a second series was to be made. Rowan stopped co writing the
series and Curtis was joined by Young Ones writter Ben Elton and the
show
hit an all time high.
Black Adder just kept going from strength
to strength from the late Fourteenth Century to 1917 and the first
world
war. The show has made household names of Rowan Atkinson, Tony
Robinson,
Stephen Fry,Hugh Laurie.and many others and includes proformers such
Peter
Cook,Robbie Coltrane, Miranda Richardson, Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson.
