Today was a travel day. We drove from Edmond
to Amarillo, a journey of about 260
miles. We left Edmond at 1145am
CDT, and took I-40 westbound. This is the old “Route 66”. After a brief stop for
lunch (Subway), we continued west. The picture of a plane below was taken in Oklahoma,
just off of j’n 50 of I-40, at around 14:00 CDT. The plane looked like some kind of
military one. Although there are no storms
about, the weather is lovely. Temperatures are about 29C (84F) with low
dew-points and a westerly breeze – not quite what we want, but at least it’s warm!
We went to the Big Texan steak house for dinner, and met up
with fellow UK
chasers Steve, Pete and James.
Tomorrow we are going to drive from Amarillo
to Winslow, Arizona
– about 600 miles or so! This is so we can go to Meteor Crater and the Grand
Canyon on Friday, before heading north and then east through the Colorado
Rockies (via Monument Valley) ready for (possible) storms
early next week in the northern Plains states.
