Details for Alison and Damian's HAG weekend
What? HAG - their joint STAG and HEN event
When? Weekend of Friday 4th February 2005 to Sunday 6th February 2005
Where?
Blaxhall Youth Hostel, Suffolk
We have rented the whole 40 bed hostel for the weekend. (For those of you who don't frequent such things - this means bunk beds in communal rooms). Blaxhall is north of Woodbridge and near to both Orford and Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast. As the YHA website says about this hostel....
"This redbrick hostel has recently been refurbished to provide comfortable accommodation in what was once the village school. ....on the edge of the Suffolk Sandlings, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with easy walking and flat cycling routes as well as the nearby bird reserves of Minsmere and Orfordness."

Here are
some directions for
getting to the hostel (many thanks go to Paul for these!).
What will we be doing?
- Friday night - Arrivals from 7pm onwards
Soup and mulled wine will be available throughout the evening
- Saturday daytime - Your choice of a variety of activities including walking, cycling, bird watching, exploring the local sights or whatever else you can think of.
- Saturday evening - Meal together - Please bring some food to share, so we can create an interesting spread! There is a kitchen with fridges and cookers - so if you are feeling adventurous then you could even prepare something fresh from scratch.
Possibly silly games or just chatting maturely in front of the fire with a glass of fine port or whiskey!
- Sunday morning - clear up and leave the hostel
(go for a walk if we are keen) and Pub lunch
Cost - We are charging £5 per person as a contribution towards the hostel accommadation, payable in advance to book your slot.
Want to come? As the hostel only has 40 beds, space is limited. We have invited more people than there are places, so book early to avoid disappointment. For the places in the hostel it will be first come first served! There are several B&B's within a few miles - so maybe some people would rather stay in more luxurious surroundings. But please make your own arrangements. To reserve your place in the hostel please let Alison or Damian know as soon as possible and send us your £5
Help wanted - We are looking for a few volunteers to help lead activities on the Saturday, so please let us know if you are willing to organise a walk, or bike ride, or whatever else you fancy.
Please bring with you:
Towel
Warm clothes and appropriate clothes for any activities you wish to do
Appropriate equipment for activities - such as bikes, walking boots
Enough drink to keep you going for the weekend
Some food for the meal on Saturday night - if you care about not eating pots and pots of chilli and are organised, you could let us know what you intend to bring so that we can make sure there is enough pudding! But otherwise surprise us!
Food for your breakfasts and lunch
Games (such as bored games, Twister etc) to keep us amused
Youth Hostels do provide duvets and sheet sleeping bags nowadays- but you may wish to bring your own!
We hope to see you all there!
Much love,
Alison
and Damian
