Phosphate

Phosphate

Phosphate is a compound of Phosphorus, it is also a primary nutrient source for many forms of algae.

Phosphates can be introduced into the tank by using, amongst other things, tap water, activated carbon, KH buffers and some foods.

Ideally a phosphate test would give a result of less than 0.25 mg/l. You may have to use special products to reduce, by absorption, phosphate to acceptable levels.
