About Us

The Church was established about 105 years ago and our premises are usefully located just off Walton High Street in Winchester Road. It is an active family church with around 180 members drawn from the surrounding area. Our purpose is to know God and make Him known, and to be together in worship, prayer, fellowship and witness as we share God’s love and new life in Jesus.

We believe the Bible has been inspired by God, is true, and has authority to guide everything to do with faith and how we live our lives. It shows us what God is like, how we can know Him, and about Jesus Christ, God’s Son - His dying for our sins, resurrection from the dead, gift of the Holy Spirit (His power for living), gift of eternal life, and much more.

Jesus is the Lord of all and Head of the Church. We don’t have bishops or a pope – instead the Church members meeting together under God’s guidance appoint the church’s leaders / trustees. We are a community of ‘born-again’ believers. The Church is a member of the Baptist Union (www.baptist.org.uk) and the Evangelical Alliance (www.eauk.org).

Following the teaching & example of the New Testament, we believe that baptism is for those who have repented of their sins and who sincerely declare that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Saviour. This is known as Believer’s or Adult Baptism.

We have a full-time minister Peter Eyre (married to Jean)  and assistant minister Sam Abramian (married to Suzie).
