Copyright law
Copyright laws exist to protect the artist from illegal copying and
distribution of their work.
However, where you own the original disc or recording you are allowed to make a copy onto
a different medium e.g. CD/cassette tape where that recording is for your own use.
It is not legal to sell or give that copy to anyone else for their use, unless
accompanied by the original recording.
Album covers are a different matter - there is no right under copyright law
to copy the album artwork, unless specific permission is sought and given by the copyright
holder or holders, and these are only rarely listed.
For this reason, I do not make CD inlays using the album cover artwork.
