Insect Swarms are normally little more than an annoyance, buzzing around, crawling into eyes and ears, and generally being a pain.

SPECIAL RULES

Swarm Template: To represent the Swarm you need a template at least the size of the ordnance marker. It can be as big as the players agree to.

Random Movement: From the second turn onwards, each player makes a normal reserves roll for the Swarm. When it becomes available roll a Scatter Dice in the middle of the battlefield, place the Swarm template on the table edge pointed at lined up with the exact position the Scatter Dice pointed to. At the beginning of each players turn roll a 2D6 and a Scatter Dice to determine the direction and how far the Swarm moves.

BUZZZZZZ: Any model covered 50% or more by the Swarm Template suffers a minus value on it's BS and Ld equal to the number of wounds the Swarm has left. This represents vision being blocked, communication becoming difficult and general confusion.

Flame Weapons: The only weapons effective against Swarms are fire based weapons that use the flame template, all other weapons are useless. To shoot a flame weapon at the Swarm simply check the flame template can reach the Swarm and then roll for the number of wounds the swarm takes. Roll a D3 for normal flame weapons, a D6 for heavy flamers and 2D6 for Inferno Cannons or other massive flame cannons.

Optional Extras

*1 Stripper Swarms: Aswell as the standard rules, any vegetation touched by the Swarm template is removed as they strip all eidble matter away.

*2 Stinger Swarms: Aswell as the standard rules, any model covered 50% or more by the Swarm Template that is not in fully enclosed armour (Tyranids, Imperial Guard, most Orks, Kroot, etc) receives D6 S2 Hits with no armour saves allowed.
