Thunder Class Imperial Robot

Very few Robots remain operational, the last known STC device that held data on Robot construction was destroyed by Tech Magos Rickus Priesteni in M39 in a bout of insanity. Yet still some Robots remain active, their systems maintained by Tech Priests using what passed down knowledgeremains, luck and guess work. One of the more common Robot systems still seen is the Thunder Class, an automated mobile weapons platform occasionally found in use with Imperial Guard Armoued Companies and some Adeptus Astartes chapters.

A Thunder Class Robot may be used in any Imperial army, as long as there is a Techmarine or Adpetus Mechanicus Tech Priest present. If you decide to take a Thunder it counts as one of the heavy Support choices for the army. Thunder Class Robots must be used as described below and may not be given extra equipment.

Type: Walker
Crew: N/A
Weapons: Twin Linked Lascannons and an Assault Cannon.

SPECIAL RULES

Program: Robots must be programmed prior to the battle, using a flow chart system like the one below. This can be tailored to give your Robot different orders and battlefield roles.You do not decide what to do with the Robot each turn, instead the program tells you what to do with the Robot. Run the entire Program during the movement phase, so all movement and shooting happens in the movement phase.

These rules are based on the old 40k Robot rules, unfortunately I don't have a copy of them anymore.. If anyone could email a copy to mail@bootae.org it would be most appreciated so I can refine this unit.

To get the best use of the Robot you must get the program sorted out carefully, be sure to define your targets as "Infantry", "Vehicle" or "Heavy Armour". This way your Robots will be more likely to kill what you want. The flow chart below is for a seek and destroy program, the Robot will first look for vehicles, then nearby infantry. If none are in range it will advance then check again.

Imporant Commands

START = Begin Program

RESET = End Program (End of turn, remember the robot has the normal moving and shooting limitations of a Walker, so don't try and squeeze extra shots out.. hehe as if you would.)

Be sure to clearly define your target types, the system I use is:

INFANTRY = Any Troops
VEHICLE = Bikes, Trucks and Light Tanks
HEAVY ARMOUR = Battle Tanks

I made a couple of Robots back in about 1992, these are my 3rd edtion version of their rules.. Feel free to print this off :)
