Welcome to the website of South Holburn Parish Church.

The Church of Scotland

The Church of Scotland is one of the largest organisations in the country. We have around 600,000 members, with many thousands more regularly involved in our local congregations and in our wider work. More than 100,000 children and young people also take part in a range of our church-based activities, led by a team of 15,000 volunteers.

Aberdeen Presbytery Website

South Holburn Parish Church is a congregation of the Church of Scotland in the City of Aberdeen. Whether you live locally, or are visiting the city, we will always be pleased to welcome you.

The Church of Scotland is a reformed (or protestant) church, which is governed according to the presbyterian tradition. The Church of Scotland is also our country's national church and as such the ministry of South Holburn extends beyond our own membership. It is a joy to share in celebrations such as baptisms and weddings and it is a privilege to offer pastoral care in times of loss and bereavement.

Our church building is located at no 539a Holburn Street, not far from Bridge of Dee. The location of the church is marked on the map opposite.

As a presbyterian church, we are governed by a system of church courts. Within our congregation leadership and pastoral care are provided by elders, who work in partnership with the minister. Along with other local congregations, our congregation comes under the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Aberdeen. At a national level, all congregations come under the authority of the General Assembly, which gathers in Edinburgh during a week in May.

On this website you will find further details of our congregation and of the different activities that take place during the week. Please use the navigation bars (in the left hand column) to tour the site. To request further details use the 'Contact us' button to send us an email.
