New players are always welcome to the council session
on Wednesday evenings. Although we
tend to dominate the numbers there, it is nonetheless an open session for players of all
abilities and experience.
The club activities consist of league competition, participation in summer tournaments,
friendly matches against other local clubs, and, when the weather permits, outdoor games
in local parks. There are also occasional purely social gatherings.
If you wish to participate in these club activities, then you are encouraged to join.
However, be aware that the league season (normally October through March) is planned some time
in advance, and squad sizes are limited to ensure that members of each squad can train
properly as a team and get to play in the majority of their matches. Therefore, joining the club in
mid-season will not guarantee your participation in already scheduled league matches. It does mean,
though, that we can plan the following season's entries according to the numbers of squads we
can assemble.
The club membership fee for the current year (September to August) is £10, on top of which there
is a £5 fee per match played (league or non-league) and per training session. These charges are
used to maintain our affiliation with the English Volleyball Association, to pay hall fees for matches
and training, and to maintain a supply of good quality volleyball equipment and team shirts.
