Install more maps and vehicles
NOTE:
To be able to use the new maps in a single player game, you need to enter the cheat code at the main screen.
From the 1nsaneHeat
website , grab some maps
and vehicles.
Unpack the zip and then place the .idf files into the correct folders.
Maps will go into Insane\data\maps and vehicles go into Insane\data\vehicles
Be aware that when playing online not everybody will have the same vehicles or maps as you.
For this reason most online play is done using standard maps and vehicles.
If you try to join a multi player game using a vehicle the other players do not have , the game will crash.
You also need to be aware that there is a limit to how many maps and vehicles you can have installed at any one time.
Install vehicle skins
Download a new skin and unzip the files.
You should now have three .png graphic files, these are the skins for the vehicle's exterior, interior, and damage.
Depending on which vehicle the skin is for, you need to create a new folder in your
1nsane\data\vehicles folder and name it the same as the vehicle.
The files the game uses for each vehicle can be found in 1nsane\data\vehicles.
Some of the file names are a bit cryptic - refer to this list for matching file names to vehicles.
For example, the Baja Bug is named baja.idf so you would make a
folder called baja
IE: 1nsane\data\vehicles\baja
You need to copy the three png's into the baja folder and thats it.
Start 1nsane and select the vehicle you installed the new skin for, cycle through the available skins and the new one should be there.
You can have up to 128 different skins per vehicle.
NOTE:
Make a backup before making any changes to the .idf files mentioned below.
