Introduction

This page lists some marriages in Nottinghamshire involving people from parishes other than that in which the marriage took place. I have added a surname index of males and one of females, with links to the relevant detailed entries. Users should be aware that these are transcriptions of LDS photocopies of the original entries, and like all transcriptions may contain errors. They should therefore be used only as a guide, and entries of interest should be checked against the original registers.

The following abbreviations are used in the transcriptions:
p means Parish
b means Bachelor
s means Spinster
lic means Licence

In the Calverton parish if it says of C it means of Calverton, so for example:

"Bartholomew DAVISON, of Westthorpe [p.Southewell] & Mary WARSOP of C 20th April 1729" means

Bartholomew is from the parish of Southwell and Mary is from the parish of Calverton.

Spellings are as in the original source, so may not always be what you expect.

Browser compatibility statement

I believe web pages should be accessible to all browsers, rather than surfers being browbeaten into switching to some particular browser to see a page. (How many people would be happy if popular TV programmes could only be watched with the latest model of one particular make of TV set?). I am currently going through this site trying to achieve this as far as possible, but I do not have any means of testing it with all the dozens of browsers out there.
