Here Comes Humanity Dick

Excerpt from Chapter 17 - El Tambo

Onboard El Tambo the smell of the dowsed fire was choking and I could see smoke was still pouring out of various escape holes in the engine room and the wheelhouse.  I found that the ship had four decks of cattle; the cattle were housed side by side in single stalls along the ship's length.  The floor of each deck had several inches of water that had come from the fire hoses putting out the fire.  The lower I went into the ship the more water there was on the floor because the water was now flowing from the upper decks down to the lower decks.  I found myself in over 2ft of water on the very lowest deck.  The water had mixed with the dung and the urine from the animals and the stench and the ammonia content was overpowering.  There was no ventilation and no lighting, as the electrical supply had been destroyed by the fire.
