Here Comes Humanity Dick Excerpt from Chapter 19 - Dorset here I come |
|
Within a few seconds the door opened wide. A stocky man wearing a police superintendent's insignia on his uniform looked at me. "Sir," I said, "I'm Inspector Norman...." I did not get the RSPCA bit out. The superintendent put his arm around my shoulder but not in a friendly manner as I thought he was going to do. He turned me around and by holding my collar at the back of my neck he frogmarched me towards the main door. The sergeant said nothing; he just walked ahead of us and opened the large swing door at the entrance to the station. I was half lifted and half placed outside the station. The superintendent said, "I have had enough of the RSPCA over the years. I don't want you or anyone else from your Society telling me what I am responsible for!" With that the door closed. |
