The book in my mind is a best seller, its up there with James Herriot. I cried at various parts, but would not have missed having my copy for the world. The book was written from the heart. Review from Kath Thoelfall. |

Fabulous, well written. It makes me proud and humble to work with people like John Norman who are prepared to stand up for what is right and take action for animals. John's compassion and humanity comes across in everything he does, and for him its the animals that count. The world is a better place for people like John Norman, he is definitely someone you'd want on your side. Review from Dominic Rudd, Director of Animal Welfare Services, RSPCA. |

John has recalled his career with humour, seriousness and fact. all well balanced. It was an easy read and was thoroughly enjoyable. Review from Paul Bompass, Chief Superintendent (Retired), Dorset Police. |
Great book thoroughly enjoyed it. Really shows what the RSPCA is all about. A wonderful advert for the society. Review from Tim Phillips, Veterinary Surgeon. |

Considering the amount of interest there is in animal welfare, it is surprising there are not more books published about the work of the RSPCA. A warm welcome, then, for John Norman's down-to-earth account of his 35 years as an Inspector with the charity. The subjects from a Labrador in Leicestershire and pollution in Pembrokeshire to a dead canary in Dorset, demanded varying amounts of tenacity and commitment. But perhaps none more so than the 917 cattle rescued from a stricken freighter off the Welsh coast. Mixed in is some heartfelt writing about the joys and sorrows of his own family life. A good book often leaves you wanting more. One hopes those 35 years might contain more than enough material for at least one follow-up. Review from Paul Hart, Scunthorpe Telegraph Special Supplement on Thursday 8th February 2007. |

An interesting account of the life of a dedicated RSPCA Inspector. It gives a good picture of the many different issues which the RSPCA deals with daily, and illustrates how vital the work of the RSPCA is to animal welfare. Review from Jackie Ballard, Director General of the RSPCA. |
I have really enjoyed the book. I had some laughs and shed a few tears. I also learnt exactly what an RSPCA Inspector does and I think they all deserve a medal. I am sure they enjoy their work but there must be some heartbreak and frustration too. Review from Val Alderson, in Chesterfield. |

This book is a compulsive read you just wont be able to put it down. It gives an account of one man's life working for the RSPCA. If it doesn't have you in tears early on then the chapter about his daughter's fight to become a mum is sure to. Here Comes Humanity Dick will take you through every emotion, it shows how cruel humans can be but it lifts the heart with many tales of true kindness. Worth every penny its a little gem!!! Review from Toni in Mansfield, Notts. |
It was fantastic I couldn't put it down. I thought the structure and content of the book was excellent. Your sense of humour during the book was also fantastic, very hard to make something serious sound funny. Review from Laura Lake. |
I have just had to spend 24hrs in a French hospital waiting for an operation, so began reading the book. What hospital, what operation, completely submerged in your experiences. Review from John Burgess, in France. |
I really enjoyed it, and it was a damn good read. It is the type of book which would lend itself to a CD Rom or Book at Bedtime on Radio 4. Review from Dr Rees, Ferndown Practice. |
Great Book, couldn't put it down. The world needs more John and Sandra's. Review from Frank and Michelle Behennah. |
