why?
the romantic answer is that the em led has always wanted to go to claridges for lunch and it would be lovely to go. the other slightly less romantic answer is that it tends to be cheaper to go for lunch that dinner. in all seriousness, emma has always wanted to eat there and so have i so it had to be done.

damn good it was too!
its funny eating at these types of places. you have a separate waiter for each thing. so we had one for bread, one for ording food, about three for bringing food, one for ordering drinks, one for bringing drinks... the list goes on. nice food though. em led had boiled beef which sounds revolting but was really rather nice and i had pork with three type of veg, none of which i have ever heard off (and i a lovely middle class upbringing). high points were perusing a wine list that was thicker than most phone directories and having a women describe about twenty types of cheese in minute detail.
the bill was not toooo bad for two people eating 3 courses. but £8.65 for a gin an tonic... come on gordon...
