go to a comedy club
why?
How do you get to twenty five and not do this?
done?
Yup, 3/10/06
Finally, I've been to a comedy club.
We went on our honeymoon at the end of September / early October in Las Vegas and San Francisco and had a fantastic time. We spent two days driving through Death Valley and Yosemite National Park which was breathtaking and I would recommend it to anyone. I know it has nothing to do with this comedy club page, but check out the scenery in Death Valley:
Okay, so the Comedy Club.
This wasn't something we had actually planned to do whist away. We were wandering back to our hotel one day in San Francisco and passed The Green Room Comedy Club in the Fisherman's Wharf area of the city.
The night we went along was the final of the 31st Annual San Francisco International Comedy Competition. I have no idea how a competition can be San Francisco and Internation but we didn't worry to much about that and bought our rather good value $10 tickets to see the five comedians that were on that night. They were set to do 20 minutes each which means that if one was shite we wouldn't have long to wait until the next one. Which is nice.
We got down there at 8pm for the show to start at 8.30pm and a nice lady led us to our table... on the front row, directly in the middle in front of the stage. The following picture is from their website and shows where we were sat but doesn't show how it was on the night where every other single table is in darkness, expect for the front row which is lit up. Presumably so each comic can take the piss out of your for the duration of the show.
To cut a long story short we had a fantastic night. We had the piss taken out of by pretty much each comic, but nothing too bad as the people next to us were loudmouth American's with mullets who tried to be funnier than the comics (always a mistake) so they tended to pick on them instead. The eventual winner was a guy called Leo Flowers who I genuinely thought was the funniest of the bunch and should go on to big things, although they all seemed really good to me.
Jobs a goodun.
