live in new york city, paris or at least somewhere abroad for at least a year

why?

this is the biggy! the one im desperate for! my current contract is up in september 2007 so itd be an ideal opportunity for me and the em led to get out there and live somewhere fun for at least a year.

nyc is the first choice (visa and money permitting) and paris is probably second choice (money and learning more than 'can i have a beer' in french permitting).
