Troon Portland Curling Club

Established 1830

Letton Stone

On Tuesday 22 November 2011 eight rinks took part in the Annual Bonspiel for the Letton Stone. This year the curlers from the Disnae Club were spread over the Troon Portland teams, giving six combined rinks with teams from Fullarton and Wallace McDowall  completing the line up.  After two four-end games two rinks had won both its games, but the team with the best ends record and therefore this year’s winner of the Letton Stone was TPCC “ The Good” (Jimmy Forrest, Hatty Forrest, Mike McNeill and Jim Jack). The “Wooden Spoon” this year went to Wallace McDowall.

All rinks then sat down for light refreshments of tea/coffee & sandwiches, after which the prizes were presented by Match Secretary, Linda Thompson and President David McIntyre.

The evening was rounded off with the usual raffle. Jimmy Forrest thanked President David McIntyre, Secretary Mary Foy, Match Secretary Linda Thompson & the rest of the Committee for their work in arranging this Annual Bonspiel. He also thanked his team and all the participants and hoped to see them the next year. All agreed that it had been another enjoyable evening. It was noted that the Disnae players are now ready to move into regular clubs and we hope that some may join Troon Portland.

Anyone interested in joining TPCC can obtain details from the Club’s notice board in the Ice Rink.

Unfortunately there was no photographer this year.
