Anthony Mascolo

In the last 25 years of the 20th Century Anthony Mascolo has evolved into a unique persona within the world of hairdressing. An instigator of hair trends and an inspiration to many young hairdressers he remains approachable whilst at the same time creating a strong presence on stage, television, behind the camera and in the salon. Anthony Mascolo has revolutionised hairdressing education. He has made training not only intrinsic to the ongoing work of a large number of hairdressers but also motivational and enjoyable.

Anthony Mascolo creates hairstyles that people want to wear ! During Spring/Summer 1999 he has created progressive collections of hairstyles that will globally take Toni&Guy into the 21st Century. Collections are named expressively to conjure mood: Neoteric, Existentialists, Urban Species, and Y2K take the work of TONI&GUY forward from the Winter 98/99 On the Edge photo collections.

Multi-Media - video / CD rom / Internet
Anthony has long believed in the force of multi-media. To both express and create mood, to teach and to illustrate themes, he has, for many years, used video within his shows and academies. The 1999 On the Edge Video collection has been sold world-wide and translated into German, Spanish, French and Italian. This series has also, for the first time, been brought out on CD-Rom for the personal computer market.

For the new millennium Anthony has produced the Y2K Video collection. A boxed collection of 6 female and 2 male haircuts, these styles express the current feeling of Anthony and his team and illustrate the strong-held philosophy of Mascolo, -that hair should be wearable, flattering and easy to maintain.

The Internet has not slipped by Mascolo. He is currently updating his much visited TONI&GUY site for the new millennium, whilst creating a separate site for his product company TIGI Haircare. Originally conceived as merely a promotional medium, it has quickly changed into a strong marketing tool.

Highly respected for his training books, that are as beautiful as they are informative, for 2000 Anthony has produced an exciting encyclopaedia of hairstyles. The international launch of Evolution-Revolution will herald Anthony's vision for hair in the coming months and years. Evolution-Revolution will be launched at the Toni&Guy village at Salon 99.

"Style Challenge" has made Anthony (and many of his contemporaries) a household name. His easy-going way has endeared him to both programme producers and viewers. Anthony has also appeared on "This Morning".

Salon Development
Toni&Guy have become a tour-de-force in the high street. Where image is concerned Anthony is always hands-on and at the fore-front of development within Toni&Guy. New salons have opened in Central London and throughout the UK and abroad during the last 12 months. The current UK total exceeded 100 several months ago, whilst the international total tops 300. Via his design and shop-fitting company Anthony ensures imagery on the high street is tightly maintained. Via his tight educational system he controls the training and education of all staff. His current project is a new and very large, central London Academy.

During the last 12 months Anthony has overseen the repackaging and reformulation of TIGI haircare's Classic line. His strong influence on design and specific product production has made TIGI's Bedhead stick one of the best-sellers within the Company's portfolio and has won the company acclaims in product competitions in both the UK and Australia. The name "Bedhead" is now being extended into a line that is funky, stylish and lifestyle orientated. A video and collection of photographs support the launch.

As familiar with the departure lounge at Heathrow as he is with his own "front room", Anthony Mascolo is constantly on the move. Major shows in the last 12 months include: In the UK:Salon International and the World Congress, in Italy several shows including Cosmoprof, and elsewhere in Venezuala, Brazil, Belgium, USA and Canada.

Surprisingly private, Anthony is, at heart, a great family man and often shuns media attention. But, within the hairdressing profession he remains the perfect front to Toni&Guy, highly respected and totally animated.

He is the one and only Anthony Mascolo.
