These pictures were taken in Aden where I (Mike) was stationed with the Royal Air Force, during 1961.
Dhows and other wooden vessels had been built here, by the same families, probably using similar tools and methods, for generations. Hopefully, the trade is still going on although, as you will see, "iron" ships were undergoing repairs.

     
                   

The slides were taken using my Canonflex R2000 with either a 50mm f1.8 or 135mm f3.5 Canon lens, on Kodachrome film (ASA 25 !). (This was Canon's first SLR.)
