I N the 1780's, a young Irishman called
James Connolly left his home at
Castlehyde, County Cork, to set himself
up as a blacksmith, first at Ware, in
Hertfordshire, then at St. Martin's in the
Fields, London.
He never significantly improved his fortune, but his son John built up a profitable business as a tyresmith and wheelwright, moving to Wharf dale Road, Somers Town in North West London. When he died in 1877 he left each of his five sons and four daughters £2,000, as well as a personal interest in several leasehold properties.

"they were married according to the ceremonies of the Roman Catholics by the Reverend J.B. Hearn, MA (from 1836 to 1845 at Somers Town). The witnesses were John Willis of 11 Pools Terrace and the X mark of Margaret Connolly, 41 West Street."

son of John Joseph) and Father Desmond Ford, SJ, who wrote a partial history of the family but died before he could complete it. He was the son of
Minnie Connolly, daughter of John Joseph.

London. Thomas is described as a railroad clerk, born in Ireland.
According to 1851 census she was born 1825 not 1815 but this is likely wrong.

John Joseph's wife Maria Kelly was from Longford.
Connolly's said to have been wheelwrights so this Robert could be connected
