Bravo, Persevere!

Bravo, Persevere! - copyright Robert Spencer & Michael Musgrove, Published by the Lutterworth Press"Persevere started to doze and he dreamed of all the exciting flying he had done in years gone by. He was dreaming of flying between vast mountains covered in snow, when he heard a deep rumble like thunder far away. Persevere looked around at the mountains, in his dreams, thinking an avalanche was coming, but the noise was from Claude's four jet engines."

"Sighing the Aircraft controller said 'Papa Echo Romeo' clear take off and climb. Keep clear off cloud and report tome on course to Pine Valley'.
'Clear to takeoff RUNWAY TWO EIGHT', they replied clearly. They were relieved that the Controller hadn't stopped them going. Taxying to the centre of the vast grey concrete runway, they could see all the black stripes left by the heavy jet aircraft landing on it. The runway was clear, but enourmos black clouds seemed to touch the ground. Joe held Persevere's brakes on firmly and pushed the two large throttle levers forward and the engines roared with al the power they had in them. Joe released the brakes and the little aircraft started rolling down the runway. Joe moved the control stick forward as the speed increased, lifting the little tail-wheel of the ground. Now, Persevere was speeding along faster and faster. Pulling back on the contol stick, Joe gently lifted the aircraft off the runway and they were in the air.
