About this Site.

Welcome...

The aim of this Web Site is to help fellow enthusiasts maintain & restore these wonderful vehicles. Also to source spare parts & share useful information on repair procedures, military information etc.

The pages of this site are. (Which are found by clicking on the respective 'buttons' at the top of the pages).

HISTORY page. This page gives some background in to how this model came into being and how Land Rover met the British Army's requirement for a robust Air Portable 4 wheel drive vehicle.

Want to find out how your Lightweight spent it's time in the Forces? Then the History page has the details you need...

GALLERY page. This page is where you can view larger 800 x 600 size photos of my Lightweights, past and present. Feel free to copy and use my photos (Please note that whilst the vast majority of this Web-site is copy protected, the Gallery photos aren't). All that I ask is that where my images are used, a link to this web-site www.LandRoverLightweight.info would be appreciated.

PROJECT page. Is a photographic record of what I'm up to at the moment with regard my current repair & restoration project.

FOR SALE page. As an enthusiast you always seem to aquire more parts than you need. So from time to time I sell or trade bits that I no longer need - for other bits that I do need. If you're stuck for a part, drop me a line & I'll do my best to help you locate the item.

TECHNICAL page. This is where you can find information on Technical issues and repair procedures, wiring diagrams relating to this model. There's also Military specific issues relating to the vehicles such as Stencil markings - what they mean and where they would be located on the vehicle. Also explanations of the Bridge classification system, Convoy lights & their use and also Infra-Red Headlights and what their use was.

Also on the Technical page a large scanned copy of the original Land Rover 'Military ½ ton' (Lightweight) sales brochure that contains interesting facts & specifications. Available for you to download for free! Also Sankey Trailer ¾ ton Technical Handbook.

LINKS page. This is a page of links to my favorite Land Rover Lightweight web sites, other enthusiasts personal web sites as well as my favorite suppliers, clubs & associations.

Thanks for looking at my web site...

Please note, this site is an on-going project and I try to update it regularly (as and when I get the time). If you see any errors or have any suggestions or questions or whatever, please feel free to contact me by clicking on the e-mail button at the top of the page.

Kind Regards, Phil
