Finished school half way through my A-Levels in 1978, much to the chagrin of Mr. Baddley, and went
to work for the now defunct Congleton Board Company. ("But your future is with us ! " I was told by
one member of senior management when I handed in my notice.)
Left them in 1988 to join a Finnish Paper Company and have worked for them now in 3 countries.
Moved to Chicago USA in 1993 but now I'm working in Helsinki, Finland until the end of 2002 on a
global supply chain management project.
While living in Biddulph (Brown Lees) I played football for several local teams (Biddulph Wanderers,
Golden Lion, Royal Oak, Mow Cop Athletic) as a Goalkeeper with varying success. (Usually "how
did he do that ?" rapidly followed by "why did he do that !!!") and I'm still playing in the Helsinki leagues !
Divorced once and remarried to an American (Mary), it was a Las Vegas wedding but I didn't have
to dress up as Elvis.
Still in touch, on occassion, with Sue Proudman, Swall, Gav Smith, Roy Johnson, Steve Edwards and others
despite my romany lifestyle.
