October lived up to our expectations. It was yet again the wettest month of the year, so far. If it remains so it will be the third year running where October has had this privilege. It is odd that with global warming we are told, and indeed have seen the evidence, that there will be great swings in the weather patterns, even more so than we have come to expect living in the British Isles. It is therefore strange that over the last few years October has become consistently the wettest month of the year. But looking at the records it is not that October has become particularly wetter but that November, December and January have become less wet.
October's rainfall was 11% above the 2000/2005 average.
Incidentally 19th October was the wettest day for 15 months
