Until two days before the end of September the month was set to be yet another one when rainfall was below the 2000/5 average for the month at 64.3% of that average. The last two days of the month put paid to that, with 22.7mm falling in the 24 hour period up to 10:00 am on the 30th.(see note about timing of readings), with 16.9mm falling in one hour around mid-day on the 29th. Resulting in the months rainfall being 107.6% of the previous average. Does this indicate that we are about to enter a very wet period and again see October as the wettest month of the year?
The October average for the six years 2000/5 is 146.8mm with a range of 81.3mm to 180.3mm.
