WORK on the final phase of the controversial Barnes Meadow housing estate at Uplyme is progressing well, with sales exceeding expectations, according to the developers.
A progress report on the building of the last 14 homes was given to the parish council by Wykeham Homes boss John Steven.
In a written report he said:
- Landscaping is under way and should be complete by mid November. This includes the village green and the wildlife corridors.
- The boundary wall to Lyme Road is complete, we are now waiting for the council to complete their core samples of the pavement to complete the tarmac, hopefully this will be imminent.
- The footpath diversion order is still actively being investigated by our lawyers.
- Construction update - two houses complete, two nearing completion, four under superstructure construction, and the remaining foundations underway.
- Sales update – we have 14 properties to be constructed in the final phase of development. Of these four have been sold and the first two have now been completed, the other two properties have contracts exchanged and we have further three reservations, leaving seven available.
"This is a much better level of sales than we were anticipating and reflects the quality of the build and design and, of course, the wonderful location."
