WHEN Lyme Regis Football Club first started to play at Davey Fort many years ago, the ground came in for a lot of stick from Perry Street League players used to performing on half decent surfaces.
And, to be truthful, the Fort ground was pretty awful. It's a very different story now, however, for years of costly treatment and hard graft have turned the pitch into a very acceptable playing area.
It is looking tremendous at the moment. And a lot of the credit for this is down to vice-chairman Bill White who has been working tirelessly on the ground.
Bill, formerly a very successful assistant manager in charge of the Seasiders' second string, has made care for the pitch very much his baby.
Well, the infant is looking very bonny, Bill!
