Tetra Mast on Golf Course

On the left is the Tetra mast as temporarily installed on the golf course. The lower section of the mast is well screened from Lyme as are the cabins housing the ancillary equipment. This will not be the case if the mast is moved to the golf club practice area. It will be impossible to screen any part of the installation on the sloping and exposed practice area.

The current planning permission expired at the end of May 2004. The Lyme Regis town council recommended refusal of this planning application saying, it was "outside the defined development boundary in an area of outstanding natural beauty and would be detrimental to the amenity of neighouring properties".

It will be interesting to see how the town council will now view the application to move the mast to the practice area. Being on the field next to Strawberry Field, the town council wanting and approving plans to develop that field themselves, they will have a difficult decision to make. But can they even make a pronouncement on this bearing in mind their vested interest in development of this area?
