The Specialist Team

Staff at the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital encourage patient's to achieve the highest levels of independence and mobility, through their own efforts. We devise intensive physiotherapy and occupational therapy programmes to meet individual targets and provide motivation and support throughout.

After an initial assessment, when each patient's goals are explored, the Consultant recommends a regime which is then implemented by our specialist teams. The resident doctor and nursing staff liase closely with the physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams to discuss individual rehabilitation requirements and physical progress with each patient. Important matters such as sexual, bladder and bowel problems are addressed by appropriate specialists.

Most patients, if physically able, work all day in our gymnasium to regain maximum mobility. Weight training and a variety of exercises take the form of group activity, while specific treatment is given on an individual basis with as many staff  as necessary in attendance.

Counsellors in psychological issues, dieticians and trained speech and language therapists complete the rehabilitation team. The staff ensures persistent progress is made and that patients reap the rewards of their commitment to the programme, which is essential to success.
