Process of loading a flintlock, video'd at Bisley.
A precise quantity of powder is poured down the barrel via a funnel.
A ball, wrapped in a patch, is rammed down the barrel. The powder
pan is loaded, the frizzen is closed over it and the gun is cocked.
Pulling the trigger releases the flint, which strikes the steel frizzen,
sending a shower of sparks onto the powder below. The powder ignites
and, in turn, ignites the charge of powder in the barrel.
