Abstract.

The Stone Circles at Stanton Drew, Somerset (OS Map reference: ST 601634) are over 5000 years old. The stones are a local silicified dolomitic conglomerate amongst other lithologies. The source area of the stones has been better constrained, using literature research, field work and geochemical studies. A map of the site in Somerset has been refined to include recently uncovered stones and to amend previously published maps. ICP-MS studies have produced semi-quantitative and quantitative rare earth element analysis of the stones from the Stanton Drew site and samples from the source area. The possibility of one of the stones being igneous has not been ruled out.
