Humans

Granny Weatherwax (human)
Quite possibly the most powerful human character on the Disc, Granny is part of Lancre's renowned witches coven, along with Nanny Ogg, Magrat Garlick and Agnes Nitt. Not being a great fan of the traditional sorts of wizardly discworld magics, Granny prefers the use of "headology" and "borrowing".

Havelock Vetinari (human)
The Patrician of Ankh-Morpork, Vetinari is responsible for ensuring the continued smooth running of the city, and keeping the various guilds in line. Observers have speculated on the reasons for his long term in office, but the overwhelming consensus seems to be that an Ankh-Morpork with Vetinari in it is slightly preferrable to one without Vetinari in it, from the point of view of each of the major guilds. A happy and widely welcomed side effect of Vetinari's period in charge has been the immediate incarceration in a scorpion pit of all Ankh-Morpork's street mime artists.

Magrat Garlick (human)
Magrat Garlick is the third and youngest member of Lancre's coven of witches. Granny disapproves of Magrat's ideas of magic - Magrat tends to like mystical symbols and occult jewellery, while Granny prefers headology. Magrat is married to King Verence, and they recently had a baby.

Nanny Ogg (human)
Nanny Ogg is a member of Granny Weatherwax's Lancre witches coven. What she lacks in magical abilities she makes up for by being the chief matriarch of the Disc's largest and most diffuse family tree; Nanny Ogg had a busy youth.

Nobby Nobbs (human)
A Member of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch, Corporal 'Nobby' Nobbs is the only human on the discworld to have to carry around with him a certificate to prove his species.

Ponder Stibbons (human)
Unseen University's youngest wizard. Spends most of his time in the HEM (High Energy Magic Building) playing with HEX. He's the only wizard around there most of the time, the rest are students. He is in other words the Discworld equivalent of the computer geek archetype from the 60's.

Rincewind (human)
An inept wizard from Unseen University, Rincewind is hopeless at everything except, it turns out, managing to stay alive through all kinds of mishaps. This usually involves running away as fast as possible in the opposite direction. Rincewind can scream for mercy in nineteen different languages, and just scream in another forty-four.

Samuel Vimes (human)
The Commander of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch, Vimes manages to maintain his anti-authoritarian streak despite being an authority figure himself. Lord Vetinari, the city's Patrician, once commented on this trait as being 'practically Zen.'
