The twin cities of Ankh and Morpork, sitting on the river Ankh, make up the largest metropolis on the Discworld. Ankh is the up-market side of town, whereas Morpork was twinned with a tar pit. Eight ornate brass hippos line one of Ankh-Morpork's bridges. Legend has it that if danger ever threatens the city, they will run away.
