Kissing

a kiss can cause a cascade
of biochemical reactions
let loose (roughly) between the ears
pointed out by the corners
of the mouths involved
neurotransmitters run riot
prompted by tactile clues as well as
by the exchange of pheromones
present in saliva
kissing is almost a simulacrum
of an orchestra pulling the strings
to set in motion
a puppet conductor
the music merely a side-effect
no
not
(admittedly)
all that romantic a thought
but think my sweet
thought itself
is just a side-effect
of the cerebral song and dance
the whole of subconscious leading by the nose
as proof of which
we
are led to think
we think about it

thought is illusion
illusion is thought
kiss me again
