I saw your ghost again tonight.
It would not let me be.
Am I the one who’s haunting you,
or are you haunting me?
Is it my fevered, longing heart
that calls you back to sight?
That summons your remembered face
to hold you in the light?
Or is it you who chooses to
come close, within my reach
to keep alive what we once knew
when equal, each to each?
I have no fear — your ghost dispels
the loneliness in me.
Whatever brings your presence, you
are welcome company.
