and the old conclusions,
I looked through the glass
in the front door
for significance in the pictures on the wall
the furniture found there.
Should significance be surmised from
the cost of replacement? or how long
they had resided there? or the fact
they were done by hand
not printed, not assembled
from a bargain basement sale?
Well then, can I gauge significance
from the clumsy furniture placement
that shows the fireplace is never used ?
Can you count dusty surfaces
that recline without shine?
There are no meanings
to tamper with in this inventory
when I look with objective eyes .
Devoid of context.
Significance only descends
when familiarity has returned
to unlock the front door
and let you walk in
