The Grand Old Lady Of Something
Ive seen you around here and there,
With your green coat with brown buttons
And coffee cups. I saw you try to stuff one
Into the ticket bin on the bus, and we all know you cant
The first time I saw you I noticed the way
Your cowboy boots fastened tightly round your hairy legs,
How your eyes twiddled at the thought of speech,
How your cheek twitched like a bad thought.
I am not impressed by people who worry about times or
Numbers or punctuality, but when I saw you I thought,
Dont leave anything standing by.
Dont fall asleep. Dont die.
