This site is dedicated to the memory of Pearse Guina
1955 - 2004
Empty Room Promotions was set up in the summer of 2002 by Pearse Guina and Mike Trotman, two lifelong fans of live music who got tired of spending all their money going to other people's gigs and decided to start putting on their own.

As they said at the time, "Our philosophy is to promote bands that we enjoy, make sure everyone has a good time (artistes and audience) and try not to lose too much money! The type of music that we tend to focus on is called Americana, which is best described as a mixture of country, folk and rock. The artists we book are usually from the USA on a European tour or British musicians who play in the Americana style. Basically we are in to the sort of acts that veteran BBC DJ Bob Harris regularly plays on his shows".

Over the period we have promoted, among others, Bill Mallonee (who stated the whole thing off), Chuck Prophet & Mission Express, Richmond Fontaine, Josh Ritter, Chip Taylor & Carrie Rodriguez, Eliza Gilkyson, Guy Clark, Tift Merritt, Marah, Buddy Miller, Mary Gauthier, Sam Baker, Tom Russell, Gretchen Peters, The Wailin’ Jennys, Thea Gilmore and many many more. If these names sound good to you - you are at the right place!

After eight years and well over 100 gigs things have moved on since those early times. We now have our own web site, which you are reading, and a small team of helpers including Richard & Linda Watkins and David Humphries.

We now use three venues in the Buckingham area, including the new Americana capital that is Tingewick Village Hall and have recently ventured over the border in to Oxford too and we hope you will follow us on our journey.

See you at the next gig.
