When it comes to solid platinum pedigree, few can match the accomplishments of Gurf Morlix. He has performed on some of the world’s biggest stages and played alongside some of the biggest names in the game and last year he was crowned Instrumentalist of The Year, by the Americana Music Association at the prestigious annual awards in Nashville.

He has produced, recorded with, or performed alongside a veritable "Who's Who" of the music business. The list includes Warren Zevon, Mary Gauthier, Slaid Cleaves, Lucinda Williams, Eliza Gilkyson, Butch Hancock, Jim Lauderdale, Jerry Lee Lewis, Peter Case, Steve Earle, Harry Dean Stanton, Billy Swan, Victoria Williams and many more. Gurf worked with Lucinda Williams for eleven years, serving as guitarist, vocalist and bandleader, as well as producing her critically acclaimed albums ‘Lucinda Williams’ and ‘Sweet Old World’.

He has released five solo albums – ‘Toad Of Titicaca’, ‘Fishin' ‘In The Muddy’, ‘Cut 'n’ Shoot’, ‘Diamonds To Dust’ and his latest ‘Last Exit To Happyland’, as well as ‘Birth To Boneyard’ - an instrumental companion piece to ‘Diamonds To Dust.’  At the end of the year, ‘Last Exit To Happyland’ was sitting pretty at Number 40 when the Americana Music Association's Top 100 Albums of The Year were announced, then in the Americana UK Writers’ Best of 2009 selection, the same album figured in the Top Ten Albums list, with contributor Phil Edwards saying of the man: “Legendary producer proves he's as good as the rest of the them. No in fact, he's better.” Staff writer Maurice Hope said: “After years making others sound good now it’s his turn.”  The record had won him a 9-out-of-10 rating from Americana UK, with the recommendation: “Albums like this don’t come along that often”.

‘Live’, the Texan’s a true one-off and the earthy stomp and powerful performances mark him out as a true giant on the circuit. Not surprisingly, audiences are entertained with colourful anecdotes as well as great slabs of the super-league music that will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand to attention.
